step 3: prepare your patient for surgery

if your bait has any of her hair left, and you don't intend to use it for this or any other project, you can remove it very simply by 'chopping' the hair very close to the scalp, and then pulling the hair out through the inside of the head with a pair of pliers or hemostats (most flea markets have a 'scissor guy' who will sell hemostats for bargain prices). the tail can be removed by pulling it out of the inside of the body with said pliers (no need to cut it unless it's severely matted and could rip the vinyl of the pony).

next, wearing rubber/latex gloves to protect my skin, i use acetate to clean off any dirt, and to remove symbols and eyes. please note that if you want to dye your pony, you need to scrub the bait after you use acetone, because it can resist the dye and the result is a blotchy pony. >_< scrubbing is a good idea anyway. antibacterial soap, please. ;)
